So you're thinking.... "Why would I want a Virtual Boy,
cause it flopped, the games are horrible, and its in 2 colors only." Well,
are you missing all of those, except for the flopped part. The VB stopped being
sold in fall of 1997, just after I bought my VB and Mario Clash. The games are
awesome! This is coming from a true gamer, not just a VB gamer, I own over 50
cartridges for 4 different systems consisting of over 65 games. So, the VB's
games aren't really bad. I have played and own 5, and I love all of them. I wish
I had the other 9 US games, the Red Alarm Demo, the Japanese games and the VB
headphones, but I havn't been able to find these. As for the 2 colors, red and
black, they make the 3D effect better than color, and there are some pretty
amazing graphics in the games, except Red Alarm because it was made to enhance
the 3D effect. The games are cheap. I bought my VB for $29.99(U. S. Money) and
it came with Mario's Tennis. The only game I bought while the VB and games were
still being sold in stores was Mario Clash, and I bought it for $9.99. I wish I
had bought more games, like Nester's Funky Bowling and Tetris, but I didn't make
much mowing yards that summer
. I just purchased Galactic Pinball and VB Wario Land in June, and about a week
latter got Red Alarm. I bought these used in a pawn shop with no instructions or
box, but in great shape. The original price was $5.99 each, but the guy that
worked there said that they had been setting there for a long time and he was
anxious to get rid of them, so he only charged me $1.00 a piece!!!! So the games
can be purchased cheaply, now finding them is another story. You can buy them
online, but I would reccomend finding them for yourself and barganing for the
price. In another pawn shop, I saw the VB unit on a table, It was dirty, beat
up, missing the eyeshade and controller, but they sold it for $3.00! You can buy
those other parts. So the unit is cheap. These are probably less money than the
old 8 bit NES! I've only spent $63.00 for mine (with all the games and AC
adaptor), and at the original cost, it would have been over $420.00!!! Nintendo
ment for this system to be portable, but it really isn't. To check out their
claims, I took my VB with me on a 4 hour trip, there and back, 8 hours total, on
a bus and played it, it was slightly discomfortable, but I am glad I took it
along! So it is somewhat portable. These are only a few reasons to get a VB, so
go find one now!
